| Cascade underwent a total restoration and refit in 2009/2010 and shows like a brand new boat. She is truly a "10".
The Alajuela 38 is from the pen of William Atkin and derived from Colin Archer's famous double ender designs. This is arguably the sweetest looking heavy displacement double ended cruiser ever built. She is built to sail in any condition, her keel is as full as they come and she has a beefy outboard rudder and tiller steering.
Cascade?s interior was stripped out, varnished and painted in 2008/2009. She also received new cushions (fabric and foam) and interior lighting. All standing and running rigging was replaced in 2009 together with a new main and genoa from Mack sails. Also new in '09: New Yanmar 75 hp Diesel (approx 100 hrs), Sidepower bow thruster. A new inner forestay, Harken furler and staysail were added in 2010. The current owner added tons of equipment in fall 2010 to prepare for extended cruising, including the Pacific Ocean. Unfortunately his plans have changed and she is back on the market in better shape than ever, ready to take you where you want immediately. |
| Overview |
This yacht has had so many updates and upgrades that it is hard to list them all here. All the basics were done when she was purchased in summer of 2010. The current owner had nearly completed preparations to sail the Pacific when a sudden change in plans required him to leave. Now the yacht is seriously for sale, and needs very little to be ready to go. She has been priced very realistically and close offers are encouraged. Keep in mind that the additions/improvements made in 2010 were all made in Sept-November and are mostly unused/brand-new.

In 2009 the Herreshoff style interior of this vessel was stripped out and completely refinished. All surfaces were repainted or revarnished, all new upholstery was added and all lighting fixtures were replaced.
