History of <Ho Chi Minh City Industry and Trade College>
DEVELOPMENT HISTORY
Ho Chi Minh City Industry and Trade College, formerly named as Light Industry Vocational School, was established on 20 October 1976 directly under Ministry of Light Industry. Until 2009, we have had a long period of development for 33 years including 4 periods:
- First Period (from 20 October 1976 to 30 July 1991):
During this period, named as Light Industry Vocational School directly under Ministry of Light Industry, was assigned to offer the training levels:
+ Technician diploma.
+ Technician certificate.
+ Training management staff in the light industry of the southern area as group leaders, team leaders, factory managers, directors.
- Second Period (from 30 July 1991 to 27 December 2000):
Our school was developed into Thu Duc Technical and Economic Light Industry School directly under Ministry of Industry and was assigned to carry out the following duties:
+ Training many areas with the levels: Advanced Diploma, Technician Diploma and Technician Certificate.
+ Training mainstream Advanced Diploma. (joint training program).
- Third period (from 27 December 2000 to 20 January 2009):
Our college was upgraded to the Technical and Economic Industries College II directly under Ministry of Industry was assigned the following duties:
+ Training mainstream and in-service Advanced Diploma.
+ Training Technician Diploma.
+ Training Transferred Diploma for three areas of accounting, textile technology and mechanical technology.
+ Link with the universities to upgrade the Advanced Diploma to the Bachelor Degree.
- Fourth period (from 20 January 2009 until April 2009):
Our college’s name has been renamed Ho Chi Minh City Industry and Trade College (HITC) directly under Ministry of Industry and Trade. This is the beginning stage of the fourth period of our development with the target to upgrade our college to Ho Chi Minh City Industry and Trade University in 2012.
